A Mullah (or religious scholar) in traditional dress with prayer beads. There is a belief that the longer a man’s beard, the more pious he is. Male dress consists of a loose-fitting, long-sleeve shirt that falls below the waist and a matching long pair of baggy trousers tied at the waist with a cord or string. Males also wear a dark vest or waistcoat with side pockets for holding things like rings and money. All males will wear some sort of headgear, either a hat or turban.
